A group of teenagers in Bangalore have started an organization, called ‘COVID Fit Club’, to “flatten the other curve – our looming mental health crisis.” In the wake of this pandemic, anger, stress, anxiety, depression and domestic violence, are all seeing a sharp increase in numbers amongst the population.

The founders of this initiative strongly believe that there is a solution to tackling mental health related problems– "Food is the most widely abused anti-anxiety drug in America, and exercise is the most potent yet underutilized antidepressant”. Therefore, using exercise as a means of helping people feel better as it is a known fact that physical activity releases endorphins– the body's natural painkillers.

As of now, COVID Fit Club hosts fitness classes in various forms (Regular fitness, dance fitness, diet planning) for children; however they are on the path of expanding out to adults. They have been collecting money for more than 2 weeks. All the proceeds go to a charity– Mitti Cafe– who employ physically and mentally disabled workers who cook food for migrant workers in these harsh times.
